Chamber Music Charleston brought the Hampton St. Auditorium to life through lively string quartet pieces that spanned time, genres, and continents for a specail Sunday, Septmeber 22nd performance in celebration of Hispanice Heritage Month.
The Colleton Children's Theatre performed "Peter Pan, A Musical Adventure" on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 for 2 school shows with almost 800 kids in attendance. In addition, a weekend of community performances brought in record numbers for the Center with an additional 800 in attendance! Flying away to Neverland with this group was a wonderful experience!
The LAACAF hosted several events at the Center in February as part of their 2024 Black History Celebration. Events included a quilt and art exhibit, The Claflin Gospel Choir, Denimufay African Dance and Drum production, and their annual Fashion Show.
Retired educator Donald Sweeper of Beaufort, SC entertained and educated over 360 area school students on the life and important contributions of Robert Smalls. This event was possible throught the Colleton Museum.
Servire visited the Colleton community in February 2024 and conducted choral workshops with CPA and CCHS choruses, presented a free community concert for over 250 patrons, raised over $2,700 for Faith Builders and Mission Serve Walterboro, and assisted in building an accessibility ramp for a family in need. A huge thanks to the SC Arts Commission for grant funding to assist in bringing this project to our area.
The Colleton Museum held their 4th Annual Black Histroy Program, A Spiritual Experience, to conclude an exciting month of celenbrations.
The Hispanic Flamenco Ballet joined us on their east coast tour for a special school performance for schools from the midlands and lowcountry.
Students from the Lowcountry Dance Academy performed the ballet, "Snow White" in conjunction with the WHAM Festival.
Dock St. Theatre's CityStage visited the Center during the WHAM Festival to perform a school show and community show, free of charge. They also visited Bells Elementary and Cottageville Elementary.
Motown came to the stage to celebrate lowcountry bass legend, James Jamerson! The Edisto native was a Motown studio performer on classics such as My Girl and I Heard It Through the Grapevine!
Direct from Beaufort, SC, "Love and Unity" with Bessie Bates and Company, livened up the historic Hampton St. Auditorium with a mix of jazz, R&B, and love songs, July 2024!
